The Ultimate Hate Crime Corrective Rape free essay sample
The Ultimate Hate Crime: Corrective Rape BY BrittanyM1324 Brittany Martin English 200 Professor Gane 21 March 2010 Throughout history, hate crimes have obliterated and destroyed the lives of people that have unknowingly committed acts of wrongdoing solely based upon the perception of certain hate filled individuals or organizations; whether it is based upon their sex, their color of skin, their religion, or their sexual preferences, they are unjustifiably hated for it. The deep routed anger cannot be easily identified by these traight forward isms (sexism, racism, anti-Semitism, homophobia); the pain and disgust that resides in these individuals that commit these hate crimes is far deeper then these simple phrases. However, Just because individuals are hated for specific identities dont mean that everyone in that community shares that common hatred; for example, there are millions of white men that look up to African Americans with respect (Barrack Obama). Many individuals all over the world that are open to expressing their sexual preferences, homosexuals, have become the target to these epulsive hate crimes that have become known as corrective rape, as stated in Andrew Sullivans Whats So Bad about Hate? and Annie Kellys article Raped and Killed for Being a Lesbian. We will write a custom essay sample on The Ultimate Hate Crime: Corrective Rape or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Why do people feel they have the right to decide what is right and what is wrong? What are the motives for this immense disgust with homosexuals? Although it seems very simple and straightforward: that men are bias to women because of their sex, African Americans have become the enemy to whites because of their color of skin, or straight men loath lesbians because of their sexual preferences, t is never that simple. There is hate that fears, and hate that merely feels contempt; there is hate that expressed power, and hate that comes from powerlessness; there is revenge, and there is hate that comes from envy. There is hate that was love, and hate that is a curious expression of love. There is hate of the other, and hate of something that reminds us too much of ourselves. There is the oppressors hate and the victims hate. There is hate that burns slowly and hate that fades. And there is hate that explodes and hate that never catches fire 0. Sullivan ndoubtedly explains that there are many different motives and driving forces for why people turn to hate rather than compassion. In many cases of homosexuality, Sullivan describes straight men and their obsession with their perception of what relationships should consist of. They often describe those they hate as diseased or sick, in need of a cure, which is very common for crimes against homosexuality 0. Although this is not the only reason for why these crimes are committed, it has become a dominant reason. The reason for why men do this is unlimited. In April in South Africa, a female football squad star was found in a creek in a Kwa Thema, Eudy Simelane. She had been gang raped and stabbed twenty five times in the face, chest, and legs. She was one of the first women that openly showed her sent shockwaves through Kwa Thema and many other lesbians in Kwa Therma have come forward and agreed that they too are victims of these corrective rapes that these gangs are doing. A video showed on Annie Kellys article, showed a young boy speak out very honestly and bluntly that he as well as many others thought that lesbians are gross and it is Just not the way he had said many times during the interview. He also said that although he wasnt a part of them he was proud that they were occurring, to set these women straight. The video showed a poverty- stricken dirt road and the young man speaking was wearing dirty and old clothes, which helps bring out the symbol for why these murders are occurring. The problem in South Africa is dominance and power. Men are dominant over women in many less fortunate countries; furthermore, in a country where the people dont have very uch, masculinity and power is a huge part of what keeps these men motivated and keeps them going.

7 Reasons to Enroll a Child in an Online Elementary School
7 Reasons to Enroll a Child in an Online Elementary School Every year, hundreds of parents pull their kids out of traditional schools and enroll them in virtual programs. How do online elementary schools benefit children and their families? Why are parents so eager to remove their kids from the system that has worked for decades? Here are some of the most common reasons: 1. An online school gives kids the freedom to work on developing their passions. Two decades ago, primary school children were given little no homework. Now, students often return from school with hours of worksheets, drills, and assignments to complete. Many parents complain that students arenââ¬â¢t given the opportunity to focus on their own talents: learning an instrument, experimenting with science, or mastering a sport. Parents of online students often find that students are able to complete their assignments faster when they donââ¬â¢t have the distraction of peers to hold them back. Many online students are able to finish their coursework in the early afternoon, leaving many hours for kids to develop their own passions.ââ¬â¹ 2. Online schools allow kids to get away from bad situations. Difficult situations with bullying, bad teaching, or a questionable curriculum may make school a struggle. Parents certainly donââ¬â¢t want to teach their kids to run away from a bad situation. However, some parents find that enrolling their child in an online school can be good for both their learning and their emotional health. 3. Families are able to spend more time together after enrolling their kids in online school. Hours of class, after-school tutoring, and extracurricular activities are leaving many families with no time to spend together (aside from homework tantrums). Online schooling lets kids complete their studies and still spend quality time with their loved ones. 4. Many online schools help kids work at their own pace. One of the drawbacks of traditional classrooms is that teachers must design their instruction to meet the needs of the students in the center. If your child is struggling to understand a concept, he may be left behind. Likewise, if your child is unchallenged, he may have to sit bored and uninspired for hours while the rest of the class catches up. Not all online schools let students work at their own pace, but a growing number provide students with the flexibility to get extra help when they need it or move ahead when they donââ¬â¢t. 5. Online schools help students to develop independence. By their nature, online schools require students to develop the independence to work on their own and the responsibility to complete assignments by the deadline. Not all students are up for the challenge, but kids that develop these skills will be better prepared for completing further education and joining the workforce. 6. Online schools help students develop technology skills. Technology skills are essential in almost every field and thereââ¬â¢s no way for students to learn online without developing at least some of these essential abilities. Online learners tend to become proficient with internet communication, learning management programs, word processors, and online conferencing. 7. Families have a greater educational choice when they are able to consider online schools. Many families feel like they are stuck with few educational options. There may be only a handful of public and private schools within driving distance (or, for rural families, there may only be a single school). Online schools open up an entirely new set of choices for concerned parents. Families can choose from state-run online schools, more independent virtual charter schools, and online private schools. There are schools designed for young actors, gifted learners, struggling students, and more. Not all schools will break the bank, either. Publicly-funded online schools allow students to learn without charge. They may even provide resources like laptop computers, learning supplies, and internet access.
